After Nokia it is BlackBerry’s turn to adopt Android.

BlackBerry has confirmed that it is going to ship Android devices by the end of 2015.

This has been officially confirmed by the BlackBerry’s CEO, John Chen at the company’s latest earnings report.

The upcoming device will be known as “the BlackBerry Priv

It may certainly sound like a strange name, but it seems likely that its a reference to Privacy, which BlackBerry is all about. Some people think of Android being an insecure OS. So with the name “Priv”, BlackBerry will likely try to point out how secure its new Android version is.

The Company says that the new Android smart phones will be tailored for the Business community with security in mind.

Talking of the security CEO, John Chen said that:

Bringing together the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform. In combination with BlackBerry’s efforts to support Android for Work on the BES12 platform.

BlackBerry is expecting to boost its sales and earnings with this new Android device.

Also, this act of the Canadian Company doesn’t mean that it is kicking out of its own Operating System. The company confirmed that it will continue working on BlackBerry 10 OS and said that platform updates will be made available next March.

So buckle up to experiance Android in QWERTY style.
