JavaScript is an interpreted, multi-paradigm language. A very strange one too. Despite it’s name, it has nothing whatsoever to do with Java. You will rarely, if ever, see this language outside of a web browser.

It is basically a language meant to script behaviors in web browser and used for things such as web form validation and AJAX style web applications. The trend in the future seems to be building more and more complex applications in JavaScript, even simple online games and office suites.

It’s becoming more and more popular because of it’s importance on the web, growing empire and beginner-friendly nature.

With JavaScript, it’s possible to create something tangible within minutes, because the language naturally integrates with HTML, the language of the WorldWideWeb. Compared with another popular form of programming, iPhone app development.

Uses JavaScript to load portions of web pages without loading the whole page.
AJAX is a widely used in many web applications. It’s usage is growing rapidly ever since the beginning. Popular sites like Google, Facebook and Youtube relay on AJAX.

Told as the future of JavaScript this language is tipped to influence the future of JS. CoffeScript lets you write less and do more. It reduces the JS code by 1/3rd. Cloud storage site Dropbox used CoffeScript to create powerful applications with less code.
